    Electrical tape is …
Electrical tape is an insulator, so why are you running the risk of damaging your ram chips by doing this? the pennies won’t help at all if there is tape and glue on them.

Besides, it’s not the ram that causes the RROD, it’s the poor grade lead free solder on the BGA VPU chip. By adjusting the X-clamps you change the PCB bend and thus have the chip make better contact on the board. RROD occures when the BGA balls get hot enough that they melt a bit and break free from the board. Fix it right.

  20. italianpimp90 says:

    that might be the …
that might be the problem and word of advise never use the towel trick because it will further damage the console and the x-clamp should work because it’s baiscly the main cause of this . if you would like to know what you need mesage me back and wil give you the info and the objective of the x-clamp fix is to clean up the processors and re add thermal paste and replace the x-clamps with screws and washers and to over heat only the GPU not the CPU

  21. woodyx10 says:

well, i tried the penny trick first cause it seemed like the more reliable fix, at least more reliable then the X clamp or the towel trick but it sadly didnt do . i tried the towel trick after that but it didnt work either. i have not yet tried the x clamp

I tried to do this tho , I tried the penny trick but before I tried I open the X clamp thing but Is it okay to open it & put it back ? I did the penny trick & when I turn on the xbox , the fan just turns off , what am I supppose to do… help plz

  28. crackman says:

towel trick doesnt work, penny trick doesnt work for very long, the only legit way of fixing an xbox 360 is the x-clamp fix. the name doesnt even describe it the more important part is replacing the thermal compound and replacing the bolts . but to replace the bolts you haved to take off the x-clamps, they have little to nothing to do with the fix

  29. Dinmagic says:

I’ve done this, and tho it works, I’ve notice that it presses down on the motherboard a little too much, which can cause damage in the future.

  30. successful says:

I have done a successful penny fix. I used just 2 pennies. It took me about an hour and a half. Used hot glue on the pennies
