short and sweet and to the point!
do you love shoot ‘em up games? did you love call of duty 4 modern warfare? do you love the world war 2 era? (regardless if you do or not love the ww2 era) if you answer yes to at least the first question then this game is a must buy! in fact, its a must buy just for the zombie mode which is an added mini game awarded on completion of the story mode in the game. this has amazining graphics just like modern warfare, the main voice over is done by keifer sutherland, and you play as a marine and a russian in the shock army. great game and a must buy!
Good for him, not for me!
This game is a little TOO much fun… I didn’t see my boyfriend for weeks after I got it for him. He was glued to the TV. He loves it though. He alternates between COD 4 and 5 and that keeps it interesting. Worth the money.
COD:World At War
This is probably the best of the series so far, going back to their original roots was a key for me with this title. I liked modern warfare but it is so much better being set during World War II. Great game if your looking for a game to kill time and people with
A DM perspective; for those who want to move on from COD4
I initially got into COD4 deathmatch, switched over to WAW with friends as soon as it came out and 3 months later we are all back to COD4.
>War mode – Something I liked but also hated. Giving a single location to fight over made that point a violent and brutal battle. Was playing the blitz worth it? It became more entertaining to pick off stranglers than trying to go for the flag. The chances of being alive to get the 30pts was slim and would destroy your kill/death ratio.
>Promotion – Became a painful process. Meeting your goal to prestige was a lengthy journey, 65 is now the highest rank and no matter what the scenario you receive terrible match bonuses.
>Weapons – Fan of WWII weaponry but terrible curve for low level players. I know that higher the level means better weapons but I feel there is no balance. EX: In COD4, the MP5 is one of the first weapons you receive but can still be used effectively to level 55. I’ve defeated players wielding every other weapon with the MP5. But weapons in COD5 get obsolete; you won’t find any 65 level players using the Springfield or Gewher. Also, using no scope bolt-action rifles was almost unbearable for me.
>Tanks – Won’t lie to you, still think it is a noble concept but found myself frustrated in-game. Instead of tanks being used as support, you get players who can’t play unless they are spawn killing with a tank.
>Artillery & Dogs – Artillery requires a lot more strategy, unlike the airstrike hard rain takes a good delay before falling. This requires you to predict enemy positions even though a recon plane is up. Dogs cause the same problems for the target team as the helo. They too are vulnerable to attack and will either give a good amount of kills or nothing at all. WAW introductions the recon perk which displays arty and dog locations.
>Maps – This is the biggest improvement to the COD name. There are large areas that allow multiple routes and sniper positions. Shootouts can be conducted at further ranges giving the experience a more realistic feel. I am not a great sniper in COD4 due to its close ranges and on the fly snapshots. WAW allows players to get in a good position, watch enemy LOAs and patiently snipe at range. Overall, fighting takes in more factors like position and cover, where COD4 allowed blitzing and halo jumping around corners.
>Prestige mode, extra classes – COD gold. Allows you to have more than 5 custom classes gave people a reason to prestige, unfortunately getting back to 65 left people wondering if it was worth it.
>Overall – Fighting at range in complex maps was initially a good tactical change to the fast pace in COD4. But, ultimately the slow promotion rate and unbalanced weapons is what made me decide to go back.
Xbox crack
Without an Xbox Live Gold account this game is relatively fun. Some of the missions prove to be a little difficult, but challenging and engaging. There’s a healthy mix of first person shooting and a little bit of tank action. For an additional challenge, try completing the game achievements on top of the in-game checkpoints and objectives.
With an Xbox Live Gold account, you have the option to utilize the online multiplayer capability. This is where the addiction starts. Playing multiplayer is really what this game was designed to do. The game has a ranking system which is based on accomplishing certain tasks as well as points awarded for kills. Even after you max out your rank, you have the option of going on to a prestige mode in which you start over and have to climb your way to the top rank again. All prestige mode does is change the ranking emblem, allowing other players to see that you’ve been through this all before up to ten times.
As of April 2009, four new levels have been made available for download via Xbox Live. These new levels have more places to hide and add additional gameplay value to those who have been playing the game since it was available.
