The third game in the Fallout series, Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) set in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC. Combining the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong, with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda, Fallout 3 will satisfy both players familiar with the popular first two games in its series as well as those coming to the franchise for the first time.

The Story: Vault 101 – Jewel of the Wastes
For 200 years, Vault 101 , a fallout shelter, has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you’ve ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

A must play
Just finished the game last night.. Great game from start to finish. Missions are fun, weapons are awesome, and the detail is top notch.
Fallout 3
Wow, thats all I can say about this game. It truly is unlike any other game I’ve played for a long time. Its an interesting RPG, in the sense that you can choose your destination. One of the few games that has me hooked to where I can’t stop playing it. The graphics aren’t too shabby, but just finding out what happens next is what keeps you going here. For anyone thats into RPG/shooting, I’d highly recommend this game.
Have no worries on this game, its a keeper.
Now im a gamer who likes his share of guns and gore. This game pleases both of those charecteristics. Now, whenever im looking at buying a new game, i do my research very thouroghly to make sure im not going to buy is a decent and playable game. Well, after hours of reading written reviews and watching video reviews, i decided to pick this bad boy up. After over 100 hours of gameplay, i decided that this was a great purchase. There is one main quest in the story in which you try to rescue your father(not a spoiler)and dozens of side quests that unlock you special items and experiece. There are two different dlcs you can purchase for Fallout 3. I cannot speak for these for i havenot purchased them yet, but i hear they are a great addition to the game. Overall, i give fallout 3 a solid 5/5 and i eagerly await the arival of the sequel.
Post apocalyptic greatness with endless hours of gameplay.
This game is great. I was not a fan of Bethesda’s Oblivion, but Fallout 3 is the game gamers like me dream about. The storyline is great, the voice acting is top notch (Liam Nielson, Ron Pearlman) and the gameplay is epic.
While you can accomplish the main quest in little time, you won’t want to. Exploring the wasteland is where this game shines. You will run into raiders, supermutants, giant ants, giant scorpions, ghouls, slavers, zombies and packs of wild dogs.
If you ever read sci-fi books like I do, you’ll notice hints of hints of Roger Zelazny’s Damnation Alley, and Walter Jon Williams Hardwired. Become a hero or villian, will you become the last best hope of mankind or evil incarnate?
The leveling system allows you to play the game as you want. You can be stealthy and rely on high perception and sneak to lay mines in front of enemies, or you can become an army of one, whipping out missle launchers and mini guns to take down foes.
This is one of the few games worth the price of $60, because of the amount of gameplay. I spent over 80hrs in game the first time I played through as a hero. Now, I’m playing the game again as a villian. The choices you make in game are so different from one another that one playthrough isn’t enough to get all there is out of it. I love this more than Mass Effect.
Great price
even though we bought this at a discount through amazon cause it said it was damaged – once we got it there was a small – very small – cut in the outside of the case (probably from someone opening a box with a knife) but nothing more. it was in great shape – and is a great game
