i usually have this problem with dogmeat the dog,so i just make sure i save a lot that way if he dies i only need to go back and redo about 15 minutes worth of game play.i usually go with fawkes and dogmeat as my companions because i like the dog and fawkes is a killing machine with the gatling laser,plus he can carry about 220 pounds of stuff for you.so just save often or change companions.hope this helps.good luck in the wastelands.

well i had the same problem he died by albino scorpoion first 2 hrs i had him but there is no cheats for keepin him alive. except just watchin wat u fite wen hes with u other wise just go with fawks he doesnt die
