I bought an XBOX 360 from ebay and was trying to fix it. When i received it the error code was 0020, after i did the penny fix it gave me error code 0031. I am not sure what else to do. If you have fixed these error codes before please let me know how to fix it! Also i forgot to add that the fans turn on for about 1 second when the system turns on then they stay off. error code 0031 is when you have tightened the screws on your x-clamp fix to tight and it is shorting out a resister. to fix it simply looen the screws a tiny bit. and that will sort the problem

try heating the gpu and cpu w2ith hair dryer for 20 to 30 min then put the heat sinks back on and tork the screws in a x …top left bottom right bottom left and top right with the chips still hot iv done it to 20 360s and i have not had any problems on any of um

I think aluminum over both the gpu and cpu’s don’t do shit…..take them off.. another problem could be too much thermal paste……but I actually think the videos you saw weren’t clear …..after you put the washers you should overheat the xbox without the fan before you run the xbox normally….let overheat for 20 min…and let it cool for…20 min…it worked for me
