Best not to with the X-clamps. If you don’t have constant tension from them being bolted down to the case you can really up your system. Keep them the way they are intended it’s best.

Thanks for the vid! it helped me out with my xbox!!

However i have tried to fix 2 of my friends xboxes used the same technique, everything the same. The only thing i did different was use a different thermal paste (i used Artic Silver 5 for my xbox and Artic Alumina for the others) do you think this is the reason why the fix is not working? Or can the chips on the motherboard become completely fried and never be fixed? Would appreciate any help.

gamerguy51 its me again, my xbox at first just kept freezing and glitching so i did the xclamp fix with your aluminum, then i got the 3 rings, so i reapplied thermal and turned it on and it gave me the e73 error now, i redid it 4 times and its still e73, its a regular xbox not hdmi. Ever run into this problem before?

    • I just wanted to …
I just wanted to chime in. I followed the instructions – changed a few pieces of hardware (slightly different screws) but the idea was the same. AWESOME FIX. Worked like a charm first time and this was the first time I ever opened the xbox. Take it slow and you’re money. The aluminum strip was at hobby lobby for four bucks and I cut it with some metal snips from the local hardware store. His kit for 8 bucks is a deal compared to some of the stuff you would have to buy. Serious thanks man.

    • @ Gamerguy51
Did you remove the paper after the overheat for the solderflow or do you leave it in? I have seen so many contradictory vids about how to overheat the thing. I was glad to see you take out the x clamps. I disassembled mine and was watching the vid and like whoa I dont have any of those. I have all the parts ready to go any last minute tips?
