Parts I Used:
8 count of M5 nylon and steel washers 1mm thick.
4 count M5 10mm bolts.
I got them from http://www.mcmaster.com/ and the part numbers are

Great vid, very informative, and made me realize what i did wrong on the first xbox i did this fix on. I forgot to make the holes bigger for the screws, but i also did the xclamp fix on the cpu so i think that would have balanced it out. It could have also been too much thermal compound, or screws were too tight/loose. Anyway great vid and very informative.

Ok guys, seriously this trick does fix the problem. I had the famous E74 error and i tried this method and it worked. I didn’t used these washers at all though. I put some “homemade” kaoutsouk washers, and when i turn the xbox on it still showed me the one red light and E74 error. I left it on for about 10 minutes, turned it off for about 10 minutes and when i turned it again on…. THE ERROR FIXED!!! thanks man, you really saved my euros

Okay, here’s my problem now. I was reading the text tutorial and when you do the overheat over the unit, you want to get three red rings. My issue is that I get either 1 red ring or 2 red rings. Anyone care to help? Is it better if I removed the excess residue/goo and replace it with Arctic Silver 5?

These fixes don’t work at all. I’ve spent endless hours trying to fix my xbox with these how to videos and nothing has worked. This fix worked for about a day and a half, but now they xbox won’t even reset from the e74 error. My suggestion to everyone out their is to buy a whole new xbox.
